The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute Belchior Mamalis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tim Krul saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Limburg FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Roy de Boer in the 4th minute. 5 minutes into the game, Limburg FC's Martijn Makaay nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. In the 14th minute, one of Heihoek:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Heihoek. The referee gave Limburg FC a penalty, 15 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Martijn Makaay, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Heihoek's Tim Krul. 0-2. 20 minutes into the match, Heihoek's goal looked a bit too open when Donald Heide came free, but Tim Krul reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd minute, Martijn Makaay had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. Limburg FC made a substitution. Nico Boschker replaced Martijn Makaay. The supporters of Limburg FC booed when Heihoek was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hans de Jong didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 79th minute, Limburg FC's Donald Heide ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Tim Krul. Tim Krul yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-12. After 83 played minutes Heihoek got a freekick which was hit by Hans de Jong. In the 85th minute, Belchior Mamalis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tim Krul was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-13. Belchior Mamalis succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-14 in the 90th playminute. In the 94th minute Nico Boschker shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tim Krul saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rick Daamen during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
