Rudi Ebbinge was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Jos Gerrits hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. If Aktaç Tansan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Japke Wielaert could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Jaap van der Schans made a huge save. 25 minutes into the match, Westenenk's Alberth Gosmann sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rudi Ebbinge narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Rudi Ebbinge took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gervasio Lauaxeta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Mark Hovenkamp's late challenge caught a Westenenk's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mark Hovenkamp helped the player get up and apologised. After 51 played minutes Steedshoger got a freekick which was hit by Mark Hovenkamp. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valio Tammisto got free with Rudi Ebbinge in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Westenenk's Gervasio Lauaxeta couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Steedshoger. Mark Hovenkamp struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Jaap van der Schans didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Steedshoger. Steedshoger's Rudi Ebbinge proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Steedshoger from getting a goal against them.
