Mark de Zwaan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The Hønefoss BK fans' excitement grew in the 25th match minute when Hønefoss BK's Sjef Wagenaar looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 27 minutes into the match, Sjef Wagenaar notched a goal, 0-5, to the right of Young Boys Enschede's Jacco Heesen. Jacco Heesen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Dirk Pluym scored 0-6 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jacco Heesen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Young Boys Enschede's Iwan Thijsse got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Robin Mos hit a great ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-6 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edgar Degens made a kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edgar Degens in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gio Elders prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Edgar Degens put it in 1-6 from a short distance just to the right of Gio Elders. Jacco Lanting made in the 56th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Edgar Degens immediately put the ball in play. 60 minutes into the game, Jacco Lanting was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Young Boys Enschede's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hønefoss BK the free kick. In the 60th match minute, Young Boys Enschede was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jacco Lanting to maneuver through the defense. 65 minutes into the match, Sjef Wagenaar notched a goal, 1-7, to the right of Young Boys Enschede's Jacco Heesen. Ľubomír Gott was slow to take the kick. During this time Hønefoss BK's players had a chance to rest. Jacco Heesen was out of position in the 77 minute of play, and Sjef Wagenaar capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Sjef Wagenaar really showed his touch with that goal: 1-8. Sjef Wagenaar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Jacco Heesen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Olof Wesseling might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gio Elders. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Olof Wesseling ran back to his position shaking his head. After 82 played minutes, Young Boys Enschede's Steve Bergmeester shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gio Elders came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Young Boys Enschede reached it. If Sjef Wagenaar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Olof Wesseling charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Olof Wesseling the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Olof Wesseling kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. When the final whistle sounded Hønefoss BK left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Young Boys Enschede.
