The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 8 minutes into the game, Rob Deiman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Zijdewind SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nijhoven the free kick. A collision led to Zijdewind SC getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Rob Deiman hit a great ball. After 15 minutes, Ferdi Dekens made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Nijhoven's Jan Wel tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Jan Wel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniël De Leeuw's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. After 18 minutes, Jelmer Moek mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Nijhoven and the Zijdewind SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. With a little luck, Nijhoven's Jan Wel got control of the ball when Ferdi Dekens tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jan Wel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniël De Leeuw in the 25th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fredrik Odén in the 29th minute of play forced Zijdewind SC's goalkeeper Henry Lembeck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 30th minute Fredrik Odén shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henry Lembeck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zijdewind SC's Daniël De Leeuw got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jan Wel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniël De Leeuw, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. After 35 minutes of play, Nijhoven's Fredrik Odén made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Henry Lembeck was left in no man's land by his defense there! Erwin Meerdink hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. The supporters of Nijhoven booed when Zijdewind SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ferdi Dekens didn't get a good kick on the ball. 44 minutes into the game, Nijhoven's Fredrik Odén nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Henry Lembeck made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fredrik Odén made a kick off. When Fredrik Odén came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Nijhoven fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fredrik Odén couldn't finish the play. In the 57th match minute, Zijdewind SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ferdi Dekens to maneuver through the defense. In the 58th minute, Nijhoven's Richard Fens dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. Henry Lembeck made an important save on a dangerous shot by Berend Korfs in the 62nd minute. After having played for 64 minutes, Ferdi Dekens managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Zijdewind SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ferdi Dekens was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jan Wel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniël De Leeuw, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Nijhoven's zone, Wilco Theuws stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jan Wel came out of the goal and Wilco Theuws tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniël De Leeuw in the 72nd minute of play forced Nijhoven's goalkeeper Jan Wel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Henry Lembeck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pierre Schirring in the 75th minute of the match. With a little luck, Zijdewind SC's Henry Lembeck got control of the ball when Fredrik Odén tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 82nd play minutes Daniël De Leeuw shot 2-3, a short shot which went by Jan Wel and just under the crossbar into goal. If Fredrik Odén had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Zijdewind SC's Henry Lembeck got control of the ball when Fredrik Odén tried to sneak it across the goal line. Zijdewind SC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 89th minute, when Berend Korfs scored to the left of an out of position Henry Lembeck, making the score, 2-4. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Nijhoven eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
