In the 11th match minute, Binġemma was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cedric Hili to maneuver through the defense. 14 minutes had been played when some careless play by Binġemma's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Charlo Mahoney was slow to take the kick. During this time Lourdes Paola's players had a chance to rest. Lourdes Paola's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Charlo Mahoney in the 16th minute. After taking down the ball on Lourdes Paola's corner Charlo Mahoney fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Fiobian Flores quite easily take care of the ball. Daniele Gilson came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Binġemma's Julian Galea. But to his dismay, Julian Galea quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Lourdes Paola were furious when Charlo Mahoney was red carded, 26 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 25th minute, one of Lourdes Paola:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Lourdes Paola. Daniele Gilson had in the 28thth minute some difficulties stopping Kyle German's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Binġemma's zone, Clint Tabone stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fiobian Flores came out of the goal and Clint Tabone tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Julian Galea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniele Gilson having to interfere. Kenneth Cassar White fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniele Gilson having to interfere. Fiobian Flores made an important save on a dangerous shot by Clint Tabone in the 42nd minute. Julian Galea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kenneth Cassar White made a kick off. Fiobian Flores made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Triganza in the 51st minute of play. Julian Galea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniele Gilson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Julian Galea in the 60th minute. If Clint Tabone had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Galea got free with Daniele Gilson in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Kenneth Cassar White's late challenge caught a Lourdes Paola's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gaetano Cassar Naudi ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kenneth Cassar White in the 92nd minute of play forced Lourdes Paola's goalkeeper Daniele Gilson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniele Gilson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kenneth Cassar White, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Galea got free with Daniele Gilson in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Binġemma players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
