In the 12th match minute, San Pawl tat-Tarġa Spartans was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Neville Cesare to maneuver through the defense. In the 13th minute Emenon Palomar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Fiteni saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ghadira FC's Gong Bing Yan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Neville Cesare in the 15th minute of play. A collision led to San Pawl tat-Tarġa Spartans getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Dejan Bianco hit a great ball. In the 19th minute, Emenon Palomar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Colin Ciantar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Gong Bing Yan made a huge save. Gong Bing Yan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Neville Cesare, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emenon Palomar in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tommy Fiteni saved San Pawl tat-Tarġa Spartans from getting behind. After a rather tough play, San Pawl tat-Tarġa Spartans's Daniel Seracino Inglott got a free kick in the 34th minute. If Colin Ciantar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Neville Cesare might have been able to make a better finish in the 42nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gong Bing Yan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Neville Cesare ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of San Pawl tat-Tarġa Spartans booed when Ghadira FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. John Gottschalk didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ghadira FC's zone, Neville Cesare stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gong Bing Yan came out of the goal and Neville Cesare tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
