In the 5th minute Daryl Quintano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Steve Grech Cumbo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 7 played minutes Portuguesa Maltesa got a freekick which was hit by Ryan Laus. When Marco Van Huytvenne came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Gzira United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marco Van Huytvenne couldn't finish the play. Noel Naudi was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ryan Laus showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 11 minute of play. Noel Naudi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlo Esposito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Daryl Quintano fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gzira United's protests and gave Daryl Quintano a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Gzira United getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Daryl Quintano hit a great ball. 22 minutes into the game, Joshua Preca recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Noel Naudi. Joshua Preca showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Jake Drago's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Noel Naudi firmly grabbed it by the left post. When the match had gone on for 29 minutes, Ryan Laus took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Noel Naudi to make any attempt to save it. Noel Naudi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ryan Laus in the 34th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Joshua Preca kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Noel Naudi. That made the score 4-0 in the 35 minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jake Drago got free with Noel Naudi in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice moves Jake Drago could shoot a difficult shot in the 48th minute, which Noel Naudi however easily saved by the left post. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 6-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marco Van Huytvenne stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Noel Naudi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-0. Noel Naudi came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Portuguesa Maltesa's Jake Drago. But to his dismay, Jake Drago quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 8-0. Noel Naudi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giovanni Sacco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 66th minute, Ryan Laus ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Noel Naudi was frozen by the shot and now it was 9-0. 72 minutes into the match, Ryan Laus notched a goal, 10-0, to the right of Gzira United's Noel Naudi. Noel Naudi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Marco Van Huytvenne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Noel Naudi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joshua Preca in the 80th minute of play. After some careless play in the Gzira United defense, Giovanni Sacco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Noel Naudi. The Gzira United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Noel Naudi should have stopped the shot. Claudio Miggiani kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. In the 94th minute, Joshua Preca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Marco Van Huytvenne came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Gzira United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marco Van Huytvenne couldn't finish the play. Portuguesa Maltesa's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
