Sean Callus tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 10 played minutes Marco Giudice rounded Valletta Vanguards FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. After a rather tough play, Valletta Vanguards FC's Jake Catania got a free kick in the 17th minute. Tony Bologna's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sean Sammut read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. 27 minutes into the game, Valletta Vanguards FC's Antoine Pizzuto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sean Callus made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Filfla's Sean Callus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Michael Pavia in the 32nd minute of play. Sean Sammut didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Filfla's Joseph Gregory shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 2-1 in the ordered_time% minute. Michael Pavia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Sean Callus tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Marco Giudice had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marco Giudice was the one to do the kick off. Edward Cioffi's late challenge caught a Filfla's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edward Cioffi helped the player get up and apologised. In the 55th minute, Marco Giudice got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sean Sammut stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joseph Gregory's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Antoine Pizzuto got free with Sean Callus in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Joseph Gregory sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Michael Pavia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Valletta Vanguards FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Michael Pavia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sean Callus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sean Callus showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Michael Pavia, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Antoine Pizzuto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lauro Ebejer kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Sean Sammut made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joseph Gregory in the 78th minute of play. After 81 played minutes Valletta Vanguards FC got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Stilon. After 82 minutes of play, Filfla's Joseph Gregory made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sean Sammut was left in no man's land by his defense there! Michael Pavia struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Sean Callus didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Valletta Vanguards FC. When the match clock showed 91 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Antoine Pizzuto sped through Filfla's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Sean Callus. Filfla's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
