Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Amadeo Rapinett started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Karl Mugliett prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Martin Baldacchino kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. After some careless play in the San Alwigi defense, Ivan Polidano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Karl Mugliett. The San Alwigi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Karl Mugliett should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Thomas Drago during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Thomas Drago hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Karl Mugliett didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Carl Coppini went, in the 14th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. In the 23rd minute, Ivan Polidano reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Karl Mugliett. The goal made the score 3-1. In the 29th minute, Ivan Polidano fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Karl Mugliett, passed just outside the right post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carl Coppini got free with Karl Mugliett in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Karl Mugliett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Polidano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Martin Baldacchino's late challenge caught a Gunners's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Martin Baldacchino helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to San Alwigi getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Martin Baldacchino hit a great ball. Carl Coppini was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 38th minute. Gunners's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Thomas Simiana during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 41 minutes into the match, Gunners's Carl Coppini sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Karl Mugliett narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in San Alwigi's zone, Ivan Polidano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Karl Mugliett came out of the goal and Ivan Polidano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ivan Polidano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

Gunners's James Bezzina couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 55th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for San Alwigi. Karl Mugliett showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivan Polidano, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Carl Coppini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 62nd minute Ivan Polidano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karl Mugliett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Louis Cassar Naudi charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Louis Cassar Naudi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 65th minute, James Bezzina left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ivan Polidano in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Karl Mugliett saved San Alwigi from getting behind. Karl Mugliett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivan Polidano in the 90th minute of the match. Karl Mugliett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carl Coppini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ryan Simiana got a fine position in front of goal ttaking advantage of the opportunity to rumble in 4-3 in the right cross in the 101st match minute before Philip Bezzina had time to react. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Gunners had played much better football throughout.
