The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jean Paul Amaira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Thomas Mercieca having to make a save. The Three-sided Coins's George Bajada proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save The Three-sided Coins from getting a goal against them. Nigret's Thomas Mercieca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Franco Quintano in the 13th minute of play. Franco Quintano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When The Three-sided Coins's Jean Paul Amaira in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Nigret's zone, Franco Quintano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thomas Mercieca came out of the goal and Franco Quintano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 33 minutes into the game, Harry Galdes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. George Bajada was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Franco Quintano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Thomas Mercieca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carl Pulis kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. 45 minutes into the match, Nigret's goal looked a bit too open when Franco Quintano came free, but Thomas Mercieca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Amadeo Farrugia was the one to do the kick off. Harry Galdes scored 2-0 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of George Bajada, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jean Paul Amaira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Thomas Mercieca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 73 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Nigret's Amadeo Farrugia fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. If Harry Galdes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Michele Falzon hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Harry Galdes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jean Paul Amaira might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Thomas Mercieca. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jean Paul Amaira ran back to his position shaking his head. Jean Paul Amairas short, quick shot in the 96thth minute got Thomas Mercieca to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.
