Thomas Mercieca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jake Apap charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jake Apap the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Anton Abdilla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 43 minutes of play, A.C RossoNero's Anton Abdilla made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Thomas Mercieca was left in no man's land by his defense there! The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Amadeo Farrugia stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thomas Mercieca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tyrone Ghio in the 51st minute of the match. Thomas Mercieca was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Anton Abdilla showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 53 minute of play. If Steve Abela had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Thomas Mercieca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anton Abdilla, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. In the 68th minute, Anton Abdilla got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mark Savona took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amadeo Farrugia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to A.C RossoNero getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Tyrone Ghio hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in A.C RossoNero's zone, Amadeo Farrugia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mark Savona came out of the goal and Amadeo Farrugia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Harry Galdes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mark Savona was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. When Amadeo Farrugia came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Nigret fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Amadeo Farrugia couldn't finish the play. The supporters of A.C RossoNero booed when Nigret was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carl Pulis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
