In the 16th minute Steve Abela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aidan Delia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Roderick Decesare's late challenge caught a HIBERNIANS F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roderick Decesare helped the player get up and apologised. In the 23rd match minute, A.C RossoNero was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roderick Decesare to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to HIBERNIANS F.C. getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Jason Scicluna hit a great ball. In the 29th minute of the match Luca Testaferrata shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Aidan Delia showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Jonathan Xuereb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aidan Delia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Steve Abela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 37 minutes into the match, A.C RossoNero's goalkeeper Mark Savona had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jonathan Xuereb. A hard shot 47 in the game by Jonathan Xuereb from a close distance when the talented Mark Savona managed to make a qualified save. A.C RossoNero's players were relieved. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Anton Abdilla made the kick off in the second half. If Jonathan Xuereb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Jonathan Xuereb managed to get in a good position for a shot. HIBERNIANS F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Jonathan Xuereb was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Matthew Gambin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Mark Savona tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mark Savona made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kenneth Borda in the 77th minute of play. Tyrone Ghio hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Mark Savona took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonathan Xuereb, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jonathan Xuereb recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mark Savona showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kenneth Borda, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. HIBERNIANS F.C. had played much better football throughout.
