Sean Portelli was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. If George Amato Gauci had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dylan Bonett charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dylan Bonett the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Dylan Bonett hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. After 16 played minutes Laandaas got a freekick which was hit by Dylan Bonett. After 19 minutes, Martin Baldacchino mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the San Alwigi and the Laandaas players grew even worse after the yellow card. Karl Mugliett was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Nathan Meilak. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bernard Sapiano got free with Karl Mugliett in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sean Portelli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amadeo Rapinett, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Bernard Sapiano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Karl Mugliett read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. Ryan Simiana received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Sean Portelli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bernard Sapiano to strike the kick off in the second half. Sean Portelli made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ryan Simiana in the 51st minute. Bernard Sapiano scored 1-1 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Karl Mugliett, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 60 minutes, Amadeo Rapinett managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. San Alwigi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Amadeo Rapinett was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 62nd minute, Massimo Meli hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Amadeo Rapinett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sean Portelli having to interfere. Karl Mugliett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernard Sapiano in the 69th minute of the match. In the 79th minute, Ivan Rapinett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Amadeo Rapinett's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sean Portelli read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. George Amato Gauci charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The supporters of San Alwigi booed when Laandaas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. George Amato Gauci didn't get a good kick on the ball. 86 minutes into the match, San Alwigi's Louis Cassar Naudi broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After 88 minutes of play San Alwigi's Martin Baldacchino was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Martin Baldacchino hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. When Bernard Sapiano came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Laandaas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernard Sapiano couldn't finish the play. George Amato Gauci recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 93rdth minute of the game Bernard Sapiano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but San Alwigi's Karl Mugliett was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
