The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Stephen Stafrace during the 3rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 3rd match minute, San Lawrenz FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stephen Stafrace to maneuver through the defense. In the 12th minute, Alessio Rapinett made a precise shot to the right of Stephan Depasquale. Balzan Youths's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. The supporters of San Lawrenz FC booed when Balzan Youths was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Louis Mula didn't get a good kick on the ball. Louis Mula hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Karl Asciak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matthew Falzon having to interfere. Etienne Xerri kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Karl Asciak recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 39 minutes, Karl Asciak managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Balzan Youths's supporters crossed their fingers, but Karl Asciak was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alessio Rapinett stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gregory Testaferrata Abela got free with Stephan Depasquale in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Stephan Depasquale took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alessio Rapinett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Balzan Youths's Stephan Depasquale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alessio Rapinett in the 70th minute of play. After 73 played minutes Balzan Youths got a freekick which was hit by Noel Said. After some careless play in the San Lawrenz FC defense, Noel Said kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Matthew Falzon. The San Lawrenz FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Matthew Falzon should have stopped the shot. In the 83rd minute, Karl Asciak got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Karl Asciak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matthew Falzon having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in San Lawrenz FC's zone, Louis Mula stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matthew Falzon came out of the goal and Louis Mula tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Karl Asciak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Balzan Youths's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
