After some fancy dribbling in the 2nd minute, Shaun Briffa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ta Paola's supporters rose to their feet, but Shaun Briffa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stephen Satariano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 3rd minute, Tyrone Tortell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 6th minute, Keith Scerri got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Ta Paola booed when FC Resurrection was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frederick Cefai didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 13 played minutes Ta Paola got a freekick which was hit by Shaun Briffa. Karl Teuma hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Shaun Briffa in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stephen Satariano saved FC Resurrection from getting behind. In the 19th minute Arthur Herrera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stephen Satariano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 20th match minute, FC Resurrection was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Callus to maneuver through the defense. Oliver Cardona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Stephen Satariano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Keith Saliba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jurgen Apap, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Shaun Briffa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Stephen Satariano was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. With a little luck, Ta Paola's Keith Saliba got control of the ball when Jurgen Apap tried to sneak it across the goal line. Shaun Briffa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stephen Satariano having to interfere. 42 minutes into the match, Ta Paola's Shaun Briffa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stephen Satariano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shaun Briffa in the 45th minute of play forced FC Resurrection's goalkeeper Stephen Satariano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Shaun Briffa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Shaun Briffa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Shaun Briffa couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Ta Paola booed when FC Resurrection was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frederick Cefai didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oliver Cardona recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in FC Resurrection's zone, Keith Scerri stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stephen Satariano came out of the goal and Keith Scerri tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 83rd minute Arthur Herrera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stephen Satariano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 84 minutes, Stephan Bonello mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Resurrection and the Ta Paola players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, FC Resurrection's Stephan Bonello got a free kick in the 84th minute. Keith Scerri could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Stephen Satariano made a huge save. Despite being the better team, Ta Paola failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
