Massimo Sultana struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Claudio Boffa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Luqa. The supporters of Luqa booed when Ajajax Brazorf was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harry Bellizzi didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ajajax Brazorf's zone, Mark Cefai stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Claudio Boffa came out of the goal and Mark Cefai tried to chip the ball over his head. Ismael Chircop showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jason Grima, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. If Mark Cefai had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nigel Salerno sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Massimo Sultana made a kick off. Luqa's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
