The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. San Lawrenz FC's Matthew Falzon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save San Lawrenz FC from getting a goal against them. Alexander Cefai hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Karl Teuma sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. San Lawrenz FC's Matthew Falzon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save San Lawrenz FC from getting a goal against them. In the 19th minute Karl Teuma shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matthew Falzon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stephen Stafrace kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in San Lawrenz FC's zone, Anthony Sapienza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matthew Falzon came out of the goal and Anthony Sapienza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Stephan Bonello's late challenge caught a San Lawrenz FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Stephan Bonello helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to FC Resurrection getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Stephan Bonello hit a great ball. After 29 played minutes, San Lawrenz FC's Victor Hamilton shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Stephen Satariano came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in San Lawrenz FC reached it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Anthony Sapienza got free with Matthew Falzon in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Alexander Cefai fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored San Lawrenz FC's protests and gave Alexander Cefai a yellow card for diving instead. In the 32nd match minute, San Lawrenz FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexander Cefai to maneuver through the defense. Alessio Rapinett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stephen Satariano having to interfere. Stephen Satariano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gregory Testaferrata Abela in the 38th minute of the match. Matthew Falzon was out of position in the 44 minute of play, and Karl Teuma capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Karl Teuma really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. If Gregory Testaferrata Abela had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The wind increased when Alessio Rapinett made the kick off in the second half. Jurgen Apap hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. The attack was good, but when Alessio Rapinett in the 57th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Stephan Bonello was shown his second yellow card after 66 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 67th minute, Stephan Bonello hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Anthony Sapienza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Victor Hamilton kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Stephen Satariano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alessio Rapinett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Anthony Sapienza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in San Lawrenz FC's zone, Anthony Sapienza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matthew Falzon came out of the goal and Anthony Sapienza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Amadeo Baldacchino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to San Lawrenz FC getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Bernard Xuereb hit a great ball. FC Resurrection were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
