Luqa's supporters rose to their feet, but Massimo Sultana was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Matthew Falzon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in San Lawrenz FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 16th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 17 minutes, Luqa's David Mercieca got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Matthew Falzon. Alessio Rapinett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ismael Chircop having to interfere. In the 25th match minute, San Lawrenz FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gabriel Scerri to maneuver through the defense. 26 minutes into the match, San Lawrenz FC's goal looked a bit too open when Massimo Sultana came free, but Matthew Falzon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mark Cefai could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Matthew Falzon made a huge save. Massimo Sultana struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Matthew Falzon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Luqa.

In the 57th minute, San Lawrenz FC's Alessio Rapinett dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. If Alessio Rapinett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alessio Rapinett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Gregory Testaferrata Abela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Ismael Chircop tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ismael Chircop came out of the goal and Gregory Testaferrata Abela tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Massimo Sultana in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Matthew Falzon prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Mark Cefai received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Matthew Falzon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 87 minutes of play San Lawrenz FC's Stephen Stafrace was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to San Lawrenz FC getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Stephen Stafrace hit a great ball. Luqa succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though San Lawrenz FC had controlled the match.
