Sebastian Demicoli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Miguel Mugliett kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Chris Borg Xuereb in the 16thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Clayvon Gatt, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Chris Borg Xuereb sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 28th match minute, Diamond Eyes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Neil Musu to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Luciano Polidano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Għaxaq St Paul's supporters rose to their feet, but Luciano Polidano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sebastian Demicoli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Clayvon Gatt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antoine Bugelli in the 33rd minute of play. Għaxaq St Paul's Clayvon Gatt proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Għaxaq St Paul from getting a goal against them. Luciano Polidano hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. If Chris Borg Xuereb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Għaxaq St Paul booed when Diamond Eyes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isaac Cutajar didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antoine Bugelli in the 48th minute of play forced Għaxaq St Paul's goalkeeper Clayvon Gatt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Antoine Bugelli made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Chris Borg Xuereb managed to get in a good position for a shot. Diamond Eyes's supporters rose to their feet, but Chris Borg Xuereb was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Clayvon Gatt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When James Harmsworth came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Għaxaq St Paul fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that James Harmsworth couldn't finish the play. Angelo Pulè received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Clayvon Gatt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 68 played minutes Għaxaq St Paul got a freekick which was hit by David Sammut Castelletti. After having played for 70 minutes, Chris Borg Xuereb managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Diamond Eyes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Chris Borg Xuereb was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Chris Borg Xuereb came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Diamond Eyes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chris Borg Xuereb couldn't finish the play. Lauro Meli Bugeja's late challenge caught a Diamond Eyes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lauro Meli Bugeja helped the player get up and apologised. Clayvon Gatt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antoine Bugelli in the 77th minute of the match. Miguel Mugliett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Għaxaq St Paul's Luciano Polidano got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nikolai Mercieca in the 97th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sebastian Demicoli prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Għaxaq St Paul succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Diamond Eyes had controlled the match.
