Banter FC's Frederick Hili played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfred Galea in the 2nd minute of play. The supporters of Marsa Youths booed when Banter FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patrick Sammut didn't get a good kick on the ball. Brandon Zahra could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Etienne Agius made a huge save. The supporters of Banter FC booed when Marsa Youths was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabian Amore didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Peter Paul Preca got free with Etienne Agius in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Clyde De Giovanni struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Etienne Agius didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Banter FC. Banter FC's Frederick Hili played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xandru Abbenevoli in the 31st minute of play. In the 33rd match minute, Banter FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brandon Zahra to maneuver through the defense. Frederick Hili came out of the goal in the 34th minute to try and stop a shot by Marsa Youths's Jake Privitelli. But to his dismay, Jake Privitelli quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After 40 minutes, Clyde De Giovanni mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Banter FC and the Marsa Youths players grew even worse after the yellow card. Clyde De Giovanni hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Peter Paul Preca might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Etienne Agius. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Peter Paul Preca ran back to his position shaking his head. Peter Paul Testa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Etienne Agius tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Xandru Abbenevoli was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute Peter Paul Preca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Etienne Agius saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peter Paul Testa in the 57th minute of play forced Marsa Youths's goalkeeper Etienne Agius to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Etienne Agius showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Peter Paul Preca in the 59th minute of the match. In the 61st minute Peter Paul Asciak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Etienne Agius saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Marsa Youths's Leonard Testaferrata Abela got a free kick in the 61st minute. Peter Paul Preca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Etienne Agius having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Marsa Youths's zone, Peter Paul Preca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Etienne Agius came out of the goal and Peter Paul Preca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 71st match minute, Banter FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patrick Sammut to maneuver through the defense. In the 73rd minute, Peter Paul Preca ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Etienne Agius was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. After a defensive mix-up in Banter FC's zone, Jake Privitelli stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frederick Hili came out of the goal and Jake Privitelli tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 89 minutes into the match, Marsa Youths's goal looked a bit too open when Peter Paul Preca came free, but Etienne Agius reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Marsa Youths getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Leonard Testaferrata Abela hit a great ball. After having played for 91 minutes, Peter Paul Preca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Banter FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Peter Paul Preca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Etienne Agius showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Peter Paul Testa, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. A collision led to Marsa Youths getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Clayton Barthet hit a great ball. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Banter FC had played much better football throughout.
