After 7 minutes, George Cousin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Floriana Athletic and the Banter FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 7th match minute, Floriana Athletic was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by George Cousin to maneuver through the defense. If George Cousin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 14th match minute, Banter FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brandon Zahra to maneuver through the defense. Francesco Alagona took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 16th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Frederick Hili. Banter FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Peter Paul Preca succeeded in the game's 18th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. Luke Medati kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Clyde De Giovanni managed to get in a good position for a shot. Banter FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Clyde De Giovanni was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ian Satariano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 28th match minute, Floriana Athletic was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by George Cousin to maneuver through the defense. Ian Satariano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Clyde De Giovanni in the 34th minute of the match. Banter FC's Peter Paul Preca came free and shot a quick shot against goal 37 minutes in the game, fortunately Ian Satariano had problems saving as it came toward the left post. Banter FC's Peter Paul Preca got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jake Fasonelli's late challenge caught a Banter FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jake Fasonelli helped the player get up and apologised. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ephrem Accaioli made a kick off. In the 60th minute Peter Paul Preca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ian Satariano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peter Paul Preca in the 62nd minute of play forced Floriana Athletic's goalkeeper Ian Satariano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Peter Paul Preca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ian Satariano having to interfere. After 95 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Floriana Athletic! Although Banter FC had been in control for most of the match, Floriana Athletic still came away with the win.
