Seating: 2000, VIP seats: 0) Ad Astra's Sean Haber started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th match minute, Ad Astra was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Pullicino to maneuver through the defense. Sean Haber recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ad Astra's Sean Haber got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Ad Astra's Sean Haber in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mqabba's goalie prevented a goal. Robert Pullicino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Sean Haber managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ad Astra's supporters rose to their feet, but Sean Haber was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Matthew Sinerco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 25 minutes, Luke Attard mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ad Astra and the Mqabba players grew even worse after the yellow card. Luke Attard hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. When Sean Haber came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Ad Astra fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sean Haber couldn't finish the play. Luke Attard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Matthew Sinerco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sean Haber sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mqabba's Matthew Sinerco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sean Haber in the 39th minute of play. When Gregory Scriha came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Ad Astra fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gregory Scriha couldn't finish the play. Ad Astra's Sean Haber got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 45th minute, one of Mqabba:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mqabba. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Franco Gaffiero to strike the kick off in the second half. If Sean Haber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mqabba's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Sean Haber 54 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-1. In the 57th minute, Robert Pullicino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Ad Astra's Sean Haber in the 59th minute got a chance for a shot 59th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mqabba's goalie prevented a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sean Haber in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Matthew Sinerco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpected shot in the 63rd minute by Robert Pullicino got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After having played for 67 minutes, Robert Pullicino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ad Astra's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robert Pullicino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 70th minute, Sean Haber got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luke Attard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Messina's late challenge caught a Ad Astra's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Daniel Messina helped the player get up and apologised. Sean Haber received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Matthew Sinerco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Mqabba booed when Ad Astra was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luke Attard didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Luke Attard kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Matthew Sinerco. That made the score 0-3 in the 85 minute of play. The supporters of Ad Astra booed when Mqabba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Messina didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sean Haber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matthew Sinerco having to interfere. Ad Astra's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
