The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 6 minutes in the game Adrian Grech did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Sebastian Ekelund. Kim Bolas might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jay Jowsey. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kim Bolas ran back to his position shaking his head. 9 minutes into the match, Attard Gunners's goal looked a bit too open when Kim Bolas came free, but Jay Jowsey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sebastian Ekelund could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Barrie Kerridge made a huge save. Attard Gunners's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Godwin Sapiano in the 11th minute. Sliema Dragons FC's Kim Bolas managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Simon Lia in the 16 minute of the game. Sebastian Ekelund scored 1-0 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Barrie Kerridge, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 43 minutes into the game, Fabian Duca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sliema Dragons FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Attard Gunners the free kick. After 43 played minutes Sliema Dragons FC got a freekick which was hit by Fabian Duca. Barrie Kerridge made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastian Ekelund in the 44th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sebastian Ekelund to strike the kick off in the second half. Sebastian Ekelund recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sebastian Ekelund in the 62nd minute of play forced Sliema Dragons FC's goalkeeper Barrie Kerridge to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Sebastian Ekelund managed to get in a good position for a shot. Attard Gunners's supporters rose to their feet, but Sebastian Ekelund was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Barrie Kerridge breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sliema Dragons FC's Dejan Cassar was substituted for Kim Bolas. A collision led to Attard Gunners getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Neville Ciscaldi hit a great ball. Dejan Cassar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 74 minutes into the match, Attard Gunners's goalkeeper Jay Jowsey had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dejan Cassar. After 76 played minutes Attard Gunners got a freekick which was hit by Adrian Grech. Attard Gunners made a substitution. Adrian Savona replaced Sebastian Ekelund. Adrian Grech hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. The long shot by Baran Erozan in the 79th minute really tested Jay Jowsey's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 80th minute Adrian Savona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Barrie Kerridge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A hard shot 86 in the game by Dejan Cassar from a close distance when the talented Jay Jowsey managed to make a qualified save. Attard Gunners's players were relieved. After 88 played minutes Attard Gunners got a freekick which was hit by Neville Ciscaldi. In the 95thth minute of the game Dejan Cassar who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Attard Gunners's Jay Jowsey was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Attard Gunners fans cheered their team off the field, for while Sliema Dragons FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
