Edmund Kaiser came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by Ilkeston's Philip Hartmann. But to his dismay, Philip Hartmann quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Giles Kilburg hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. 23 minutes into the match, Astley's goal looked a bit too open when Harold Majerus came free, but Edmund Kaiser reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Ilkeston's Harold Majerus got a free kick in the 27th minute. Astley's Edmund Kaiser played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harold Majerus in the 29th minute of play. 30 minutes into the game, Ilkeston's Ralph Bärwald nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Edmund Kaiser made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. A collision led to Ilkeston getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Ralph Bärwald hit a great ball. Harold Majerus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmund Kaiser having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Astley's zone, Tim Böckler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmund Kaiser came out of the goal and Tim Böckler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 41 minutes of play, Ilkeston's Harold Majerus made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Edmund Kaiser was left in no man's land by his defense there! 45 minutes into the match, Astley's goal looked a bit too open when Harold Majerus came free, but Edmund Kaiser reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 46th minute Tim Böckler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmund Kaiser saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tim Böckler made a kick off. Matty Eckstein recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edmund Kaiser stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tim Böckler's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. Ralph Bärwald kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. In the 64th minute of the match Alfred Hannawald sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Milo Gerhardt skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of Ilkeston booed when Astley was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giles Kilburg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tim Böckler in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edmund Kaiser prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Edmund Kaiser took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Harold Majerus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 83rd minute Tim Böckler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmund Kaiser saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
