Edmund Kaiser came out of the goal and Lazlo Rauschenberger tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 12 minutes, Giles Kilburg mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Astley and the Rëmeleng United players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Rëmeleng United booed when Astley was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giles Kilburg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alfred Hannawald kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Lothar Fiedler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Walter Lavigne, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After 72 minutes of play, Astley's Walter Lavigne made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Astley's supporters rose to their feet, but Walter Lavigne was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lothar Fiedler breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
