Lothar Fiedler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harold Majerus in the 3rd minute of play. If Teddy Seimetz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 0-1 became the score in the 10th minute when Harold Majerus elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tim Böckler in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lothar Fiedler prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ilkeston were awarded a corner in the 14th minute after Rëmeleng United's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ernie Auerswald took the corner. Philip Hartmann struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Lothar Fiedler didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ilkeston. 19 minutes into the match, Rëmeleng United's goal looked a bit too open when Harold Majerus came free, but Lothar Fiedler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Tim Böckler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 26 minutes into the game, Tim Böckler cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Lothar Fiedler was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Harold Majerus in the 38th minute of play forced Rëmeleng United's goalkeeper Lothar Fiedler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 40 minutes into the match, Rëmeleng United's goal looked a bit too open when Harold Majerus came free, but Lothar Fiedler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 42 minutes into the match, Lazlo Rauschenberger dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Milo Gerhardt, 1-2. Leon Uhlenbrock kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match.

The wind increased when Lazlo Rauschenberger made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute of the match Joel Bamberger shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Milo Gerhardt showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 58th minute, Ralph Bärwald hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 67 minutes into the match, Rëmeleng United's goalkeeper Lothar Fiedler had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Harold Majerus. In the 69th minute of the match Joel Bamberger shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Milo Gerhardt showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 73 minutes into the match, Ilkeston's goal looked a bit too open when Teddy Seimetz came free, but Milo Gerhardt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lothar Fiedler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tim Böckler, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. The supporters of Ilkeston booed when Rëmeleng United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Billy Feldmann didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 81st minute, Harold Majerus got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rëmeleng United's Lothar Fiedler played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tim Böckler in the 83rd minute of play. A collision led to Rëmeleng United getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Donny Backer hit a great ball. 92 minutes into the game, Ilkeston's Harold Majerus nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lothar Fiedler made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. Milo Gerhardt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Teddy Seimetz went, in the 97th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-4 was the resulting score. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ilkeston eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
