Donald Luxembourg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Ludwig Graas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lutz Rabinger's late challenge caught a Club Brugge KV's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lutz Rabinger helped the player get up and apologised. In the 8th minute, Lutz Rabinger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jean-Claude Dubois blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mick Albrecht having to make a save. In the 18th minute of the match Terry Fröhlich shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ludwig Graas showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Mick Albrecht took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernd Redoute, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rdth minute of the game Donald Luxembourg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Brugge KV's Ludwig Graas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Mick Albrecht made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Jean-Claude Dubois sent off a good shot on target. 27 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Club Brugge KV's Bernd Redoute fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. After 33 played minutes Club Brugge KV got a freekick which was hit by Henry Bamberger. The audience held their breath when Vincent Heidenreich in the 35th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Ludwig Graas's left hand side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Donald Luxembourg in the 37th minute of play forced Club Brugge KV's goalkeeper Ludwig Graas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Donald Luxembourg in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ludwig Graas saved Club Brugge KV from getting behind. Ludwig Graas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Donald Luxembourg's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. Ernie Schmitt hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Donald Luxembourg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ludwig Graas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donald Luxembourg, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

After a defensive mix-up in Club Brugge KV's zone, Theo Bäumler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ludwig Graas came out of the goal and Theo Bäumler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Theo Bäumler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Donald Luxembourg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mick Albrecht showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernd Redoute in the 67th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as New Cross's Donald Luxembourg slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ludwig Graas. That made the score 0-1 after 68 minutes of play. Donald Luxembourg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ludwig Graas having to interfere. 75 minutes into the game, Donald Luxembourg recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ludwig Graas. Donald Luxembourg showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Donald Luxembourg in the 86th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ludwig Graas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bernd Redoute received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute.
