Stannington's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bodo Hantzsch was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. If Daniel Feldmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 27 minutes of play, Newcastle United's Lars Bruckmann made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rupert Sheene was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the match clock showed 34 minutes, the score became 0-6 when Lars Bruckmann sped through Stannington's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rupert Sheene. After a defensive mix-up in Stannington's zone, Daniel Feldmann stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rupert Sheene came out of the goal and Daniel Feldmann tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lars Bruckmann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rupert Sheene having to interfere. Lars Bruckmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Rupert Sheene tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gaston von dem Bussche-Haddenhausen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Stannington players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Newcastle United were winning 0-6.

The wind increased when Laurence Barber made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Lars Bruckmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rupert Sheene saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lars Bruckmann struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Rupert Sheene didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newcastle United. When Lars Bruckmann came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Newcastle United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lars Bruckmann couldn't finish the play. Newcastle United's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
