Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Karl Lentz kicked off to start the match. Englefield Green's Ronnie Holdsworth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ollie Wilhelm in the 3rd minute of play. 3 minutes into the game, Ollie Wilhelm cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Ronnie Holdsworth was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 6 minutes into the match, Mick Ainsworth notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Sefton FC's Florian Bachmayer. Florian Bachmayer was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Karl Lentz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Ronnie Holdsworth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jupp Otto kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. In the 15th minute Karl Lentz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronnie Holdsworth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Malcolm England hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Karl Lentz in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ronnie Holdsworth saved Englefield Green from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ollie Wilhelm in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ronnie Holdsworth prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 25th minute of the match Sefton FC got a corner. Englefield Green's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Heiko Augsberger ran over to the corner to take the kick. Sefton FC's Heiko Augsberger was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ronnie Holdsworth in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The supporters of Englefield Green booed when Sefton FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Karl Lentz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ronnie Holdsworth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jupp Otto in the 30th minute of play. In the 31st minute, Sefton FC's Karl Lentz dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-1. Ronnie Holdsworth stood somewhat misplaced when Karl Lentz came free in front of goal and shot 4-1 to the left of him in the 34 minute. The audience was convinced that Karl Lentz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ronnie Holdsworth was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. Sefton FC's Karl Lentz got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sid Flintoff to make the kick off. Max Buckholz charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Max Buckholz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ronnie Holdsworth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Karl Lentz, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. 55 minutes had been played when some careless play by Englefield Green's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Heiko Augsberger was slow to take the kick. During this time Sefton FC's players had a chance to rest. Heiko Augsberger made a great header on Sefton FC's corner, it was just that Englefield Green's Ronnie Holdsworth managed to reach the ball for a save. After some careless play in the Englefield Green defense, Karl Lentz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ronnie Holdsworth. The Englefield Green fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ronnie Holdsworth should have stopped the shot. Ollie Wilhelm sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 60 minutes, Karl Lentz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sefton FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Karl Lentz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 62 minutes into the match, Sefton FC's Karl Lentz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ronnie Holdsworth narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ronnie Holdsworth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karl Lentz in the 65th minute of the match. Sefton FC's Karl Lentz got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 70th minute, Karl Lentz made a precise shot to the right of Ronnie Holdsworth. Englefield Green's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-1. Edward Pointon's late challenge caught a Sefton FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edward Pointon helped the player get up and apologised. In the 74th minute, Edward Pointon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Karl Lentz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 81 played minutes Englefield Green got a freekick which was hit by Mick Ainsworth. After a defensive mix-up in Englefield Green's zone, Max Buckholz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronnie Holdsworth came out of the goal and Max Buckholz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Sefton FC's Karl Lentz in the 86th minute got a chance for a shot 86th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Englefield Green's goalie prevented a goal. The throw-in from Malcolm England in the 89th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Sefton FC's Matty Hoffmann. Ronnie Holdsworth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karl Lentz in the 90th minute of play. Mick Ainsworth struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Florian Bachmayer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Englefield Green. Ronnie Holdsworth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karl Lentz in the 93rd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Shane Champion during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 94th minute, Shane Champion hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Sefton FC had played much better football throughout.
