Seating: 2000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Jonny Cheswick kicked off to start the match. In the 4th minute Christof Wagner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vic Sewell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 7th minute, Louis Hundhammer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 8 minutes of play, Horsham United's Christof Wagner made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vic Sewell was left in no man's land by his defense there! Fred Mayfield scored 1-1 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joseph Bamberger, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Christof Wagner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 18 minutes into the match, Horsham United's Louis Hundhammer sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vic Sewell narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 19th minute, Julien Drachmann left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Horsham United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. After 23 played minutes Howden got a freekick which was hit by Freddy Jowsey. Jupp von dem Bussche-Haddenhausen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 28 minutes, Gordon Holland mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Howden and the Horsham United players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 31st minute Christof Wagner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vic Sewell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vic Sewell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julien Drachmann in the 33rd minute of play. In the 34th match minute, Howden was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gordon Holland to maneuver through the defense. After 36 minutes Howden's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jupp von dem Bussche-Haddenhausen who took care of the corner kick. In the 37th minute Julien Drachmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vic Sewell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vic Sewell stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Christof Wagner's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. 43 minutes into the match, Howden's goal looked a bit too open when Julien Drachmann came free, but Vic Sewell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Horsham United booed when Howden was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jamie Millman didn't get a good kick on the ball.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Julien Drachmann was the one to do the kick off. Fred Mayfield struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Joseph Bamberger didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Howden. Vic Sewell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julien Drachmann in the 57th minute of the match. The supporters of Howden booed when Horsham United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patrick Lützel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Reuben Hutchins charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Reuben Hutchins the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 66th minute, one of Howden:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Howden. Christof Wagner took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vic Sewell. Vic Sewell dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. In the 76th minute, Louis Hundhammer made a precise shot to the right of Vic Sewell. Howden's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-5. Jupp von dem Bussche-Haddenhausen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Howden's zone, Jupp von dem Bussche-Haddenhausen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vic Sewell came out of the goal and Jupp von dem Bussche-Haddenhausen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 90th minute Julien Drachmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vic Sewell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vic Sewell made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Christof Wagner sent off a good shot on target. Horsham United's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
