In the 31stth minute of the game Jeff Cousins who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but F91 Dudelange's Philip von Prittwitz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Victor Hauer fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored F91 Dudelange's protests and gave Victor Hauer a yellow card for diving instead. With a little luck, Brierley Hill FC's Hayden Bartrup got control of the ball when Dennis Gottschalk tried to sneak it across the goal line. After the first half Brierley Hill FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Jean-Claude Eberhardt made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Vance Barr got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to F91 Dudelange getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Ralf Edelstein hit a great ball. In the 57th minute of the match, Jeff Cousins tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Philip von Prittwitz saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Philip von Prittwitz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeff Cousins in the 59th minute of the match. Ralf Edelstein hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. 65 minutes into the match, Dennis Gottschalk had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hayden Bartrup. Brierley Hill FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dennis Gottschalk was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Jermaine Wooding blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Philip von Prittwitz having to make a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Otto Borchard during the 85th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Brierley Hill FC booed when F91 Dudelange was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Otto Borchard didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 96th minute Dennis Gottschalk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hayden Bartrup saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
