Philip von Prittwitz made a fantastic save in the 4th minute, when Georg Schleck sent off a good shot on target. Georg Schleck sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of F91 Dudelange booed when Hawkcombe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fred Nosbusch didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dennis Gottschalk sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. F91 Dudelange's Dennis Gottschalk got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Otto Borchard fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored F91 Dudelange's protests and gave Otto Borchard a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to F91 Dudelange getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Otto Borchard hit a great ball. In the 37th minute, Rudolph Hauck sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and F91 Dudelange's Philip von Prittwitz didn't even have to move. If Georg Schleck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 40 minutes of play, Hawkcombe's Georg Schleck made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Philip von Prittwitz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Henry Juncker took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jean-Claude Eberhardt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 45th match minute, Hawkcombe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lenny Thimmesch to maneuver through the defense. Henry Juncker made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dennis Gottschalk in the 47th minute of play.

A collision led to F91 Dudelange getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Ed Rauschenberger hit a great ball. Georg Schleck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Philip von Prittwitz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 69th minute Georg Schleck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Philip von Prittwitz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Philip von Prittwitz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Georg Schleck, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Georg Schleck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Philip von Prittwitz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Philip von Prittwitz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claus Kubeck, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 78th minute, Ralf Edelstein hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. F91 Dudelange's Philip von Prittwitz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Georg Schleck in the 89th minute of play. When Lenny Thimmesch came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Hawkcombe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lenny Thimmesch couldn't finish the play. F91 Dudelange's Philip von Prittwitz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Georg Schleck in the 96th minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Hawkcombe had played much better football throughout.
