Willy von Waldersee took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Philip von Prittwitz. Philip von Prittwitz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. The audience was convinced that Dennis Babineaux's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Philip von Prittwitz was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dennis Babineaux in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Philip von Prittwitz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Markus Homburg hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. F91 Dudelange's Dennis Gottschalk got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Jacobo Lazcano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 崔笑飞 fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Philip von Prittwitz having to interfere. Ed Rauschenberger's late challenge caught a FC ROTOR ᴱᴸᴵᵀᴱ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ed Rauschenberger helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of FC ROTOR ᴱᴸᴵᵀᴱ booed when F91 Dudelange was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Philip von Prittwitz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from M. Sobar Siahaan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dennis Babineaux stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jean-Claude Eberhardt in the 64th minute of play forced FC ROTOR ᴱᴸᴵᵀᴱ's goalkeeper Willy Costermans to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Philip von Prittwitz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dennis Babineaux in the 68th minute of the match.
