Augusto Tondi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Emilio Pelliccioni recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Diego Cantagallo got free with Donato Domenghini in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 0-2 became the score in the 16th minute when Antonio Monzeglio elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Donato Domenghini was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ermanno Santucci showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 21 minute of play. Donato Domenghini made an important save on a dangerous shot by Diego Cantagallo in the 25th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Ermanno Santucci managed to get in a good position for a shot. Modena FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ermanno Santucci was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Donato Domenghini breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 29th minute Ermanno Santucci shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donato Domenghini saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Modena FC booed when Magnago was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dario Uguccioni didn't get a good kick on the ball. Donato Domenghini took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ermanno Santucci, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Emilio Pelliccioni managed to get in a good position for a shot. Magnago's supporters rose to their feet, but Emilio Pelliccioni was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Augusto Tondi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ermanno Santucci got in the 44th minute the ball and tried a long shot which scored to the left of Donato Domenghini and thus it was 2-2. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ermanno Santucci stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Ermanno Santucci had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Donato Domenghini made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ermanno Santucci in the 60th minute of play. Dario Uguccioni was shown his second yellow card after 61 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to Magnago getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Dario Uguccioni hit a great ball. In the 64th minute Ermanno Santucci shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donato Domenghini saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Diego Cantagallo took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Donato Domenghini. Donato Domenghini dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. The supporters of Modena FC booed when Magnago was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emilio Pelliccioni didn't get a good kick on the ball. Antonio Monzeglio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Augusto Tondi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Antonio Monzeglio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Donato Domenghini showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Cantagallo in the 89th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ermanno Santucci in the 90th minute of play forced Magnago's goalkeeper Donato Domenghini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Diego Cantagallo struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Donato Domenghini didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Modena FC. Modena FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
