Frank De Fina yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Bruno Piccioli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Frank De Fina tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, S.S.C NAPOLI's Frank De Fina got control of the ball when Biagio Pensa tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Dino Chiappini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edoardo Nardi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristiano Sergi having to interfere. Cristiano Sergi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andrea Zuccarini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Edoardo Nardi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edoardo Nardi struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Cristiano Sergi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for S.S.C NAPOLI. The supporters of S.S.C NAPOLI booed when A.S. Bari was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amos Di Placido didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristiano Sergi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ciccio Milanese in the 47th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Frank De Fina showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruno Piccioli in the 54th minute of the match. When Anselmo Mastrocola fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored S.S.C NAPOLI's protests and gave Anselmo Mastrocola a yellow card for diving instead. After 54 played minutes S.S.C NAPOLI got a freekick which was hit by Anselmo Mastrocola. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruno Piccioli in the 56th minute of play forced S.S.C NAPOLI's goalkeeper Frank De Fina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, A.S. Bari's Biagio Pensa got a free kick in the 57th minute. Dino Chiappini recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Edoardo Nardi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cristiano Sergi was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. A.S. Bari's Cristiano Sergi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edoardo Nardi in the 75th minute of play. Andrea Zuccarini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristiano Sergi having to interfere. In the 81st minute Dino Chiappini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank De Fina saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 85 minutes into the game, A.S. Bari's Dino Chiappini nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Frank De Fina made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Federico Ballerini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, S.S.C NAPOLI's Alberigo Castellani got a free kick in the 90th minute. A.S. Bari's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
