The referee ignored Boara Pisani's protests and gave Fabrizio Di Cicco a yellow card for diving instead. With an all-out effort, Settebagni's Bruno Caniglia threw himself towards the right post 66 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Amedeo Reali, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The audience was convinced that Antonio Sanna's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arrigo Bobbio was relentless in the 76th minute of the game.
