The Castiglione fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ermanno Moriggi should have stopped the shot. In the 15th minute Ettore Zuccarini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ermanno Moriggi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Domenico Colaneri might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cosimo Ricci. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Castiglione's supporters crossed their fingers, but Domenico Colaneri was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bernardo Ricci received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Cosimo Ricci tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlo Carlucci fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cosimo Ricci having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Cene AFC's zone, Domenico Colaneri stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cosimo Ricci came out of the goal and Domenico Colaneri tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Concetto Mara charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Concetto Mara the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Cene AFC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Concetto Mara hit a great ball. Ettore Zuccarini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

After 75 minutes, Carlo Carlucci mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Castiglione and the Cene AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card.
