In the 13th minute Alessandro Cericola shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabiano Baresi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Pieve Vecchia FC's zone, Flavio Daniele stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fabiano Baresi came out of the goal and Flavio Daniele tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Flavio Daniele had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fabiano Baresi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alessandro Cericola, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. After a rather tough play, Pieve Vecchia FC's Amos Di Febo got a free kick in the 19th minute. Pieve Vecchia FC's Fabiano Baresi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alessandro Cericola in the 24th minute of play. After some careless play in the Gerre Borghi defense, Alessandro Mei kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Corrado Franzioni. The Gerre Borghi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Corrado Franzioni should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Alessandro Mei managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pieve Vecchia FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alessandro Mei was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Corrado Franzioni breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fabiano Baresi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flavio Daniele in the 30th minute of play. If Flavio Daniele had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alessandro Cericola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Fabiano Baresi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Armando Tosi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dario Verdini made a great header on Gerre Borghi's corner, it was just that Pieve Vecchia FC's Fabiano Baresi managed to reach the ball for a save.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alessandro Cericola stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Alex Orlandi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Corrado Franzioni was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. Alex Orlandi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Corrado Franzioni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 80 minutes, Alessandro Cericola managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gerre Borghi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alessandro Cericola was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gerre Borghi's Corrado Franzioni played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alessandro Mei in the 84th minute of play. When Alex Orlandi came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Pieve Vecchia FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alex Orlandi couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alessandro Mei in the 89th minute of play forced Gerre Borghi's goalkeeper Corrado Franzioni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Amos Di Febo kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match.
