The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Bruno Della Francesca hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. 12 minutes into the game, Marano AFC's Donato Mara nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Amedeo Hell made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. If Ferdinando Clementi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Anfilogino Iacovacci showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Achille Piccoli in the 17th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Portici's zone, Federico Tardelli stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Amedeo Hell came out of the goal and Federico Tardelli tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 21 minutes into the match, Marano AFC's Donato Mara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Amedeo Hell narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 24 played minutes Marano AFC got a freekick which was hit by Enzo Gava. After a defensive mix-up in Marano AFC's zone, Achille Piccoli stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anfilogino Iacovacci came out of the goal and Achille Piccoli tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Anfilogino Iacovacci made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ferdinando Clementi in the 27th minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, Portici's Ferdinando Clementi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Anfilogino Iacovacci narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Alexander Bassani kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Arrigo Manzi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Amedeo Hell having to make a save. Aurelio Egidi kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Amedeo Hell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arrigo Manzi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

In the 52nd minute, Achille Piccoli ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Anfilogino Iacovacci was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Achille Piccoli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Marano AFC's Arrigo Manzi got a free kick in the 59th minute. Ferdinando Clementi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Anfilogino Iacovacci tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 66 minutes, Donato Mara managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marano AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Donato Mara was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alexander Bassani received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Amedeo Hell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ferdinando Clementi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Anfilogino Iacovacci read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. Ferdinando Clementi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anfilogino Iacovacci having to interfere. Portici's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
