Edmondo Bani recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Corrado Donadoni made a kick off. Frank Vitucci showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arturo Petricca in the 52nd minute of the match. If Edmondo Bani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 64th minute Ercole Grandis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dave Giacomini saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ercole Grandis in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dave Giacomini saved Palestro from getting behind. Arturo Petricca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Vitucci having to interfere. Amos Zinni kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Frank Vitucci took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arturo Petricca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
