But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ettore Russi couldn't finish the play. Bianco Liberatore hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute, Ettore Russi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ciro Pettinelli in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arturo Falcone saved Recco from getting behind. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After having played for 54 minutes, Aldo Oddi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Case's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aldo Oddi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 60th match minute, Recco was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberigo Di Carlo to maneuver through the defense. Case's Carlo Polmone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antonio Maiorano in the 68th minute of play. In the 70th minute Antonio Maiorano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlo Polmone saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 75 minutes into the game, Antonio Maiorano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Carlo Polmone was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Carter Atroce kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. If Aldo Oddi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arturo Falcone made a fantastic save in the 97th minute, when Aldo Oddi sent off a good shot on target. Case's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
