Beppe Cavallo scored 0-1 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Franco Di Liddo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Anselmo Cagnetta came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Lucino AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anselmo Cagnetta couldn't finish the play. Arrigo Piccoli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Franco Di Liddo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alvise Di Toro, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Alvise Di Toro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Franco Di Liddo having to make a save. Lucino AFC's Claudio Manfredi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Lucino AFC from getting a goal against them. In the 42nd minute Cesare Ascani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudio Manfredi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alvise Di Toro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Arrigo Piccoli came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Varese fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arrigo Piccoli couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cesare Ascani made a kick off. Claudio Manfredi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arrigo Piccoli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Lucino AFC's zone, Arrigo Piccoli stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Claudio Manfredi came out of the goal and Arrigo Piccoli tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 56 minutes into the match, Lucino AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Cesare Ascani came free, but Claudio Manfredi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 60 minutes, Cesare Ascani managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Varese's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cesare Ascani was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Varese's Franco Di Liddo got control of the ball when Anselmo Cagnetta tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 66th minute Alvise Di Toro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Franco Di Liddo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Anselmo Cagnetta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Claudio Manfredi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cesare Ascani in the 77th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cesare Ascani during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Cesare Ascani kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Lucino AFC's Alvise Di Toro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Franco Di Liddo. That made the score 0-2 after 81 minutes of play. Alvise Di Toro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Lucino AFC's Anselmo Cagnetta slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Franco Di Liddo. That made the score 0-3 after 95 minutes of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Lucino AFC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
