Alessio Pinti could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Franco Di Liddo made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernesto Ceccarelli in the 11th minute of play forced Varese's goalkeeper Franco Di Liddo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Varese's Cesare Ascani got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Varese fans' excitement grew in the 17th match minute when Varese's Cesare Ascani looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 25th minute Cesare Ascani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ernesto Ricciuti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ernesto Ceccarelli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franco Di Liddo having to interfere. Franco Di Liddo was a little too slow when Ernesto Ceccarelli got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 33rd minute. The score was now 1-2. Alessio Pinti received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Franco Di Liddo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ernesto Ceccarelli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cesare Ascani made a kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Ettore Felice was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mosezzo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Varese the free kick. Ettore Felice hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Franco Di Liddo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ernesto Ceccarelli in the 55th minute of play. In the 58th minute Alessio Pinti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Franco Di Liddo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ernesto Ceccarelli recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 65 played minutes, Mosezzo's Federico Valerio shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Franco Di Liddo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Mosezzo reached it. Arrigo Piccoli's late challenge caught a Mosezzo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arrigo Piccoli helped the player get up and apologised. In the 68th match minute, Varese was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arrigo Piccoli to maneuver through the defense. Ernesto Ceccarelli kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Arrigo Piccoli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Alessio Pinti scored 2-2 in the 95th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Franco Di Liddo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
