Eraldo Martini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cosimo Di Claudio having to interfere. Cosimo Di Claudio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claudio Petito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Beppe Mariotti received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Fausto Pellecchia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Armando Lupi in the 18th minute of play forced Valmairone FC's goalkeeper Fausto Pellecchia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Beppe Mariotti received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Fausto Pellecchia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Valmairone FC defense, Armando Lupi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fausto Pellecchia. The Valmairone FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fausto Pellecchia should have stopped the shot. In the 24th match minute, Novare was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fulvio Lio to maneuver through the defense. When Valmairone FC's Claudio Petito in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Novare's goalie prevented a goal. Fausto Pellecchia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Armando Lupi in the 30th minute of the match. Emanuele Selvaggi kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. A hard shot 34 in the game by Eraldo Martini from a close distance when the talented Cosimo Di Claudio managed to make a qualified save. Novare's players were relieved. The audience was convinced that Claudio Petito's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cosimo Di Claudio was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. Claudio Petito blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cosimo Di Claudio having to make a save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Claudio Petito made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Novare's zone, Eraldo Martini stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cosimo Di Claudio came out of the goal and Eraldo Martini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Beppe Mariotti fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fausto Pellecchia having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Beppe Mariotti got free with Fausto Pellecchia in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Alvise Taraborrelli hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Fausto Pellecchia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armando Lupi in the 66th minute of play. Valmairone FC's Claudio Petito got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Emanuele Selvaggi hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Novare's Cosimo Di Claudio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudio Petito in the 83rd minute of play. Eraldo Martini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 96 minutes had been played when some careless play by Novare's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Cristoforo Volponi was slow to take the kick. During this time Valmairone FC's players had a chance to rest. Chants of Novare echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Valmairone FC had held the ball for most of the match.
