If Eugenio Mascitti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 4 minutes into the game, Francesco Crognale was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Casertana's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave A.S.Roma the free kick. After a rather tough play, FC Casertana's Francesco Crognale got a free kick in the 4th minute. After some careless play in the FC Casertana defense, Arturo Tristezza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dennis Tagliente. The FC Casertana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dennis Tagliente should have stopped the shot. Diego Manna recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee felt a red card was in order, 23 minutes into the game, when Frank Scherens put in a rough tackle. 22 minutes into the game, one of FC Casertana:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Dennis Tagliente had in the 25thth minute some difficulties stopping Cristiano Rivera's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Dennis Tagliente took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arturo Tristezza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlo Iacomini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emanuele Massa having to interfere. A.S.Roma's defense didn't have a chance, in the 33rd minute, when Carlo Iacomini scored to the left of an out of position Emanuele Massa, making the score, 1-1. In the 44th match minute, A.S.Roma was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anfilogino Travaglini to maneuver through the defense. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The wind increased when Arturo Tristezza made the kick off in the second half. Dennis Tagliente was a little too slow when Arturo Tristezza got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 52nd minute. The score was now 2-2. Emanuele Massa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Manna in the 56th minute of play. After 71 played minutes A.S.Roma got a freekick which was hit by Anfilogino Travaglini. Carlo Iacomini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlo Iacomini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Emanuele Massa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 79 minutes into the match, A.S.Roma's goal looked a bit too open when Diego Manna came free, but Emanuele Massa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 80 played minutes FC Casertana got a freekick which was hit by Diego Manna. 81 minutes into the match, FC Casertana's goal looked a bit too open when Arturo Tristezza came free, but Dennis Tagliente reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Arturo Tristezza kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Dennis Tagliente. That made the score 3-3 in the 90 minute of play. FC Casertana were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
