The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute, Alessio Centofanti got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Fognano's zone, Armando Di Pietro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fausto Moreschi came out of the goal and Armando Di Pietro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 12 minutes into the match, CA Lino Banfield's Alessio Centofanti sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fausto Moreschi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. CA Lino Banfield's Dino Ramundo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dave Maestri in the 14th minute of play. In the 15th minute Concetto Tagliente shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dino Ramundo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Carter De Laurentiis in the 17th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by CA Lino Banfield's Beppe Simeoni. Alessio Centofanti's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fausto Moreschi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. When Amedeo Pari fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fognano's protests and gave Amedeo Pari a yellow card for diving instead. In the 27th minute, Alessio Centofanti got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dave Maestri in the 29th minute of play forced CA Lino Banfield's goalkeeper Dino Ramundo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 33rd match minute, Fognano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dave Maestri to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the CA Lino Banfield defense, Concetto Tagliente kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dino Ramundo. The CA Lino Banfield fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dino Ramundo should have stopped the shot. In the 42nd minute, Carmine Di Febo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dino Ramundo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Dino Ramundo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carmine Di Febo in the 46th minute of the match. The CA Lino Banfield players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Fognano were winning 1-2.

Fausto Moreschi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alessio Centofanti in the 54th minute of play. Bianco Pio kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Dino Ramundo made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Dave Maestri sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, CA Lino Banfield's Dino Ramundo got control of the ball when Dave Maestri tried to sneak it across the goal line. Dave Maestri in the 71stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Dino Ramundo, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. CA Lino Banfield's Dino Ramundo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to save CA Lino Banfield from getting a goal against them. Through an outstanding action, after 75 minutes, Dino Ramundo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Dave Maestri's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dino Ramundo firmly grabbed it by the left post. Concetto Tagliente charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Concetto Tagliente the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Beppe Simeoni hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. If Alessio Centofanti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. CA Lino Banfield's Dino Ramundo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Concetto Tagliente in the 96th minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Fognano had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
