When the match clock showed 12 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Christian Selvaggi sped through Palermo FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Aldo Moriggi. When the match had gone on for 19 minutes, Alessandro Mattei put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Aldo Moriggi. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alessandro Mattei in the 23rd minute of play forced Palermo FC's goalkeeper Aldo Moriggi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aldo Moriggi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Christian Selvaggi went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. The Palermo FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aldo Moriggi should have stopped the shot. If Alessandro Mattei had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 47 minutes into the match, Christian Selvaggi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Aldo Moriggi. Palermo FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Christian Selvaggi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-6. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-6 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Christian Selvaggi to strike the kick off in the second half. 58 minutes into the match, Palermo FC's goalkeeper Aldo Moriggi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alessandro Mattei. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alessandro Mattei got free with Aldo Moriggi in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Alessandro Mattei fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aldo Moriggi having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Varlungo AFC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Palermo FC.
