In the 9th minute Antonello Di Febo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arrigo Matteucci saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Christian Selvaggi was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 13th minute. Varlungo AFC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Christian Selvaggi in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arturo Piscitelli prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Antonello Di Febo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Arrigo Matteucci tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Poggio booed when Varlungo AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elia Giorgi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alessandro Mattei could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Arturo Piscitelli made a huge save. 24 minutes into the match, Poggio's goalkeeper Arturo Piscitelli had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alessandro Mattei. In the 25th minute, Attilio Pietrangelo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Arturo Piscitelli made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Alessandro Mattei sent off a good shot on target. 28 minutes into the match, Christian Selvaggi dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Arturo Piscitelli, 1-0. Alfredo Ciaccia charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alfredo Ciaccia the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Alfredo Ciaccia kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Alessandro Matteis short, quick shot in the 36thth minute got Arturo Piscitelli to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Alessandro Mattei had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alessandro Mattei sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 44thth minute of the game Christian Selvaggi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Poggio's Arturo Piscitelli was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Alessandro Mattei fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arturo Piscitelli having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Christian Selvaggi made a kick off. Alessandro Mattei sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Christian Selvaggi scored 2-0 in the 60th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arturo Piscitelli, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Attilio Pietrangelo's late challenge caught a Varlungo AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Attilio Pietrangelo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 63rd match minute, Poggio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Attilio Pietrangelo to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Christian Selvaggi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Varlungo AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Christian Selvaggi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arturo Piscitelli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee ended the match the Varlungo AFC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
