Dubai FC's Comunardo Di Giacomo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save Dubai FC from getting a goal against them. 11 minutes into the match, Dubai FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ferruccio Galeone came free, but Comunardo Di Giacomo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Faenza defense, Armando Madaio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alvise Spione. The Faenza fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alvise Spione should have stopped the shot. 16 minutes into the match, Dubai FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ennio Di Tullio came free, but Comunardo Di Giacomo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 18 played minutes Dubai FC got a freekick which was hit by Ferdinando Fantozzi. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Armando Madaio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dubai FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Armando Madaio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alvise Spione breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 25 minutes, Ferruccio Galeone mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Faenza and the Dubai FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ferruccio Galeone hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. In the 28th minute of the match Cesare Mastrangelo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alvise Spione skillfully saved the ball. Comunardo Di Giacomo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ferruccio Galeone in the 32nd minute of play. 34 minutes into the game, Bernardo Lampa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Alvise Spione was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlo Di Natale got free with Comunardo Di Giacomo in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dubai FC's Comunardo Di Giacomo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Dubai FC from getting a goal against them. Armando Madaio scored 0-3 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alvise Spione, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Faenza booed when Dubai FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dave Scirea didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ennio Di Tullio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Armando Madaio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Faenza getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Carlo Di Natale hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernardo Lampa in the 53rd minute of play forced Faenza's goalkeeper Alvise Spione to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Ennio Di Tullio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cesare Mastrangelo's late challenge caught a Faenza's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cesare Mastrangelo helped the player get up and apologised. Cesare Mastrangelo hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. During the 74th minute of the match Cesare Mastrangelo completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Cesare Mastrangelo a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 75 played minutes Dubai FC got a freekick which was hit by Cesare Mastrangelo. Dubai FC's Comunardo Di Giacomo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ennio Di Tullio in the 84th minute of play. After 88 played minutes, Faenza's Aurelio Bencivenni shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Comunardo Di Giacomo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Faenza reached it. In the 89th minute, Armando Riccitelli hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ennio Di Tullio in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Comunardo Di Giacomo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ennio Di Tullio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Comunardo Di Giacomo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Faenza lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
