The audience thought a goal was coming when Camillo Mangione got free with Ernesto Oroni in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ettore Ramoser struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Ernesto Oroni didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tiki Taka. The audience was convinced that Ettore Ramoser's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ernesto Oroni was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Filippo Cinalli during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Tiki Taka were furious when Filippo Cinalli was red carded, 24 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After some careless play in the Virgiliana defense, Camillo Mangione kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ernesto Oroni. The Virgiliana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ernesto Oroni should have stopped the shot. 45 minutes into the match, Virgiliana's goalkeeper Ernesto Oroni had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alberto Orsini. When Alberigo Iachini fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Virgiliana's protests and gave Alberigo Iachini a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Virgiliana getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Alberigo Iachini hit a great ball. If Alberto Orsini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Iban Vallejo to strike the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes of play, Tiki Taka's Alberto Orsini made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ernesto Oroni was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Virgiliana getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Iban Vallejo hit a great ball. Ernesto Oroni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Camillo Mangione in the 63rd minute of play. After 64 played minutes Virgiliana got a freekick which was hit by Bianco Coscarella. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Alberto Orsini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernesto Oroni having to interfere. After 71 played minutes Virgiliana got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Calado. After having played for 72 minutes, Fabio Di Ianni managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tiki Taka's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabio Di Ianni was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ernesto Oroni showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Orsini, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. After a rather tough play, Virgiliana's Adriano Polmone got a free kick in the 81st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Virgiliana's zone, Fabio Di Ianni stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ernesto Oroni came out of the goal and Fabio Di Ianni tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ernesto Oroni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Orsini in the 84th minute of play. Virgiliana's attentive Jesus Araoz managed to snatch the ball when Enrico Chiappini made a throw-in in the 86th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Tiki Taka's zone, Bianco Coscarella stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmondo Vinci came out of the goal and Bianco Coscarella tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tiki Taka's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
